The Singers' Circle

2:00 p.m. - The Singers' Circle This month, The Singers’ Circle will be live in the studio with Andy Laird of NYC. (If Andy's name sounds familiar, it's because he was scheduled to be our guest on September's show, which had to be canceled due to a power outage at the station. We're thrilled that Andy is able to join us this month!) To quote from his website, Andy’s sound “is an urban blend of soulful alternative rock and intricately crafted songwriting…the experiences of connection and isolation are all themes that emerge in his music.” Technorati tags: , , , , ,

Live music tonight with the Gray Sky Girls

8:00 p.m. - Valerie Richardson A studio appearance by the bluegrass duo the Gray Sky Girls out of Northampton, Massachusetts. The Gray Sky Girls are Naomi Sommers and Lisa Bastoni, two songwriters who teamed up after meeting in a small punk rock dive bar in Somerville, MA in 2004. As writers, both are heavily influenced by the traditional music they grew up with. As Gray Sky Girls, they pay tribute to their favorite bluegrass, folk and early country songs while weaving in their own original and complementary material. The Gray Sky Girls accompany themselves on guitar, banjo and mandolin--but the real focus is the honey-sweet, close-harmony singing they both clearly enjoy. Technorati tags: , , , , ,

Uncle Moon live in our studio tonight!

On Wednesday, November 15th at 8 PM come into the strange and wonderful world of UNCLE MOON on the air or in our studio 'living room' performance space in Bridgeport Impossible to adequately describe with words, but I'll let the band try: ..."Uncle Moon weaves an eclectic variety of music drawing on the unique possibilities of instrumentation consisting of guitar, accordion, violin, saxophone and double bass. We have been called an eclectic folk band, but our music transcends those roots exploring andincorporating elements of jazz, country, bluegrass, klezmer, Cajun, cabaret, poetry and art music. One fan calls it 'Kurt Weill at the Grand Ol Opry.' Another said, '...the closest that performance art music has come to moonshine.'" Convinced? Then please come to Bridgeport on Wednesday, November 15th and be part of the studio audience right here at the radio station. The broadcast starts at 8:00 PM SHARP so please arrive before 7:45, because we can't wait for you - It's radio, man!
