Ellen Sackman started singing with rock bands at the age of 15 in Bristol, England, and, in addition to showcasing herself as a solo artist, has performed locally with Tin Roof (rock), The Black Moon Band (country) and most recently with Bird ‘n Boys (rock/blues). Ellen knows how to belt in the best angry-girl tradition, a feat she’s sure to display on the air! Liz McNicholl, a native of Meath County, Ireland, has been singing in the US since she was 18. The Undecided Molecule

4:00 p.m. We continue a series of broadcasts of classic radio plays by the legendary Norman Corwin with “The Undecided Molecule”, in which a molecule who can’t decide what element or thing it would like to be a part of is brought to trial for its intransigence. The judge is played by Groucho Marx, along with Robert Benchley, Vincent Price, Norman Lloyd, Sylvia Sidney, and Keenan Wynn. It was first broadcast on July 17th, 1945. Norman Corwin is regarded as the Grand Master of American radio drama. In the 1940s he was one of the best-known personalities in America. His brilliant programs drew radio audiences of as many as sixty million people. Many of them were written, cast, rehearsed, produced, and performed live within a single week’s time. In celebration of Bob Marley’s birthday, WPKN is hosting a 30-hour Reggae Marathon beginning Tuesday, February 6 at 2 am and ending Wednesday, February 7, at 10 am. A special Reggae Marathon in honor of Bob Marley’s birthday:

  • Host of special guests beginning at 2 am and throughout the Marathon
  • Programmers featured include Ebong Udoma, I-Masai, Dr. Z, Dave O, Pete Stewart, Valerie Richardson, I-Tone, Terry Hopper and friends, DJ Grip, Jah P, and Asher will be making a special appearance
