Wednesday February 15, 8 p.m. Live from Where? Singer and songwriter Brian Dewan will be performing at the next WPKN Live from Where? on the air cofeehouse broadcast. Dewan sings original compositions while playing the accordion and zither (acoustic and electronic). This concert takes place at WPKN's studio 207 and you are welcome to be part of the studio audience. The program is free but a donation is requested. Seating is limited and reservation are suggested. Friday, February 17, 9 p.m. Americana Roots Band the Mammals Plays Bridgeport WPKN Benefit The Mammals, one of the countrys best Americana roots bands (featuring Pete Seeger's grandson, Tao Rodriguez Seeger), will play a special benefit concert at United Congregational Church, 877 Park Avenue in Bridgeport, on Friday, February 17 at 8 p.m. The concert will benefit listener-supported WPKN (89.5 FM) and the church itself.The concert takes place in the churchs Pilgrim Hall. Sunday, February 19, 3 p.m. WPKN Wine Tasting A benefit for WPKN at Carole Peck's Good News Cafe, 694 Main Street South, Woodbury, CT. Many wines to sample, along with simpatico hors d’oeuvres. WPKN programmers spinning the music. A silent auction, including books owned by and autographed by the noted playwright, the late Arthur Miller. Admission donation: $30. Please ask for Harry or Maureen. Saturday, March 4, 7 p.m. WPKM New London Launch Party Hygienic Art Gallery, 79 Bank Street, New London, CT. WPKN/M is throwing a party with music from Big Easy Rhythm, Bruce McDermott, The Paul Brockett Show and Finest Kind. The festivities will be broadcast live, so tune in or, better yet, come down to Bank Street in New London and join us in person for some hygienic hi-jinks. There is no admission charge, but donations are welcome.
