After careful consideration of WPKN staff and listener opinions concerning the recent decision to replace Free Speech Radio News with a locally produced nightly newscast, we have decided to reinstate Free Speech Radio News as of today, Wednesday, July 18. Our thanks go to the volunteers who helped launch the locally produced newscast over the past two evenings as well as those who had signed up for subsequent broadcasts. Our thanks also go to our listeners who engaged the station in a dialogue on this issue. It is good to know that so many people are so passionate about our radio station. Food and Water Watch

8:00 p.m. - Jim Motavalli Food and Water Watch will be appearing to talk about the group's new report "Take Back the Tap: Why Choosing Tap Water Over Bottled Water is Better for your Health, Your Pocketbook and the Environment." As the group points out, "Consumers are wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars on bottled water because they think it is healthier or safer than its counterpart from the tap. It is not. Tap water is safe and highly regulated and monitored. In addition, the production and distribution of bottled water causes a host of equity and environmental problems."
