A kirtan is a group singing/prayer session accompanied in the rhythmic and melodic Indian sacred music tradition on tabla, kartals (finger cymbals) and harmonium (a small portable pump organ). This is a participatory event and you are invited to come and join voices at our living room performance space in Bridgeport or at home in your living room. We will be talking about the book and Brower's research and thoughts about Guthrie as a visual artist. Monday, January 30 3:00 PM (Almost) Live from... Where? with our special guests, Afro-Semitic Experience, recorded live right here at the station in December. This cross-cultural band delivered a positive musical message about Black-Jewish relations via a powerful mix of modern and traditional sounds to a full house at our studios.
