Hecht examines the five practical means we choose to achieve happiness: wisdom, drugs, money, bodies, and celebration. “Modern culture,” she writes, “is misrepresenting me and spending a lot of money to do it.” 10:30 a.m. - Carolyn Jourdan will talk about being the daughter of a country doctor in the rural south. 11:00 a.m. - Aurelia C. Scott is guest; her book is called Otherwise Normal People: Inside the Thorny World of competitive Rose Gardening. This hour he reflects on the harshness of the macho society that created the tough emotional wasteland of a "50's" manhood. He talks of his struggle to overcome the cruelness of his male conditioning. 12:30 p.m. - David Tracey, author of GUERILLA GARDENING: A Manualfesto, will discuss the do’s and don'ts of planting community vegetables and flowers. Tracy documents the many techniques of committing random acts of urban/suburban gardening. 1:00 p.m. - Career coach and best-selling author Susan RoAne will discuss her newly revised and fully updated How To Work a Room. The networking classic teaches you the techniques of making a lasting impression. 1: 30 p.m. - Gary Snodgrass is an executive VP and Chief Human Resources Officer of Exelon Corp in Chicago and is our guest this hour. In his latest career guide, “Stepping Up: 12 Ways to Rev Up, Revitalize, or Renew your Career”, he lays out 12 guidelines that will help people become what he calls HI-POs – high potential employees -- people who can handle responsibilities one and two levels above their current position.
