  • Chalmers Johnson discusses his recent article, "Going Bankrupt: Why the Debt Crisis Is Now the Greatest Threat to the American Republic." Johnson, a former CIA analyst, is president of the Japan Policy Research Institute, and taught for thirty years, 1962-1992, at the Berkeley and San Diego campuses of the University of California. He has written numerous articles and reviews and sixteen books, including Blowback: The Costs and Consequences of American Empire and The Sorrows of Empire: Militarism, Secrecy, and the End of the Republic.
  • Raed Jarrar, an Iraqi political analyst and consultant to the American Friends Service Committee's Iraq Program, discusses President Bush's negotiations with Iraq on the long term U.S. military presence in that nation and his signing statement ignoring the Congressional prohibition on establishing permanent bases in Iraq.
  • Bernie Horn discusses his new book, "How Progressive Values Can Win Elections and Influence People."
  • Jason McGahan, an immigration rights activist, talks about Danbury, CT's City Council's plan to vote on a federal U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) program that would give local police unprecedented new powers to to detain immigrants. He will also discuss an immigrants rights rally that will take place in Danbury on Februray 6th just before the vote.
