Susan Reed & Bernie Krause this afternoon

2 PM - 6 PM - Live interview/performance: SUSAN REED, Folk Singer and Irish harpist; and BERNIE KRAUSE - Sounds of the natural world.

  • Susan Reed began her folk singing career in the 1940’s where she sang traditional ballads accompanying herself on the zither or Irish Harp. Originally from South Carolina, Reed traveled widely performing in concert halls, "CafĂ© Society", and on radio and TV. She’s sung with Lena Horne, Josh White and shared the stage with Leadbelly. Little known today due to being blacklisted in the 1950's, Susan Reed was a very popular performer in her time.
  • Bernie Krause is a leading authority on recording the sounds of nature. He's also a composer whose work has been heard on film, and record. His Moog synthesizer work can be heard on dozens of well-known recordings from the late 1960's. This is a rebroadcast of a taped interview.
