Ireland and the Invention of America

10:00 p.m. - Ken McDermottRoe In this special program, our guest Fintan O’Toole discusses the important role that Irish immigrants have played since colonial times in forming our democracy and our identity. Along the way, he explodes long held stereotypes of the Irish in America. Mr. O’Toole is a literary critic and political commentator for the newspaper, The Irish Times. From 1997 to 2001, he was drama critic for the New York Daily News. His many books include "A Traitor’s Kiss", a highly acclaimed biography of Irish playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan.
