Tonight: Julia Scheeres and Jerry Douglas

6:45 PM - Jim Motavalli
  • Julia Scheeres, author of the book Jesus Land, will talk about her travails growing up in a Bible-thumping fundamentalist household, and of being exiled to a remote Christian camp (Escuela Caribe in the Dominican Republic)with her two adopted African-American brothers.
  • At 9:00 PM An interview with dobro master (the Coltrane of the instrument) and Union Station member Jerry Douglas, talking about his jazz leanings and his new album, Best Kept Secret, which contains a Weather Report cover. (That might make him the Wayne Shorter of the instrument.)
