A Musical Party in New London this Saturday
Saturday, March 4, 7 p.m.
WPKM New London Launch Party
Hygienic Art Gallery, 83 Bank Street, New London, CT.
To celebrate our new friendships in eastern CT and Long Island, WPKN/M is throwing a party at Hygienic Art in New London, CT, with music from Big Easy Rhythm, Bruce McDermott, The Paul Brockett Show and Finest Kind. The festivities will be broadcast live, so tune in or, better yet, come down to Bank Street in New London and join us in person for some live music, good food and hygienic hi-jinks. There is no admission charge, we just want to meet you!
Finest Kind is an accordion, banjo and tuba trio who specialize in sea-songs, with the tradition of bawdy ballads and drinking songs. Bruce McDermott is a songwriter and singer living and working in Mystic. His musical style is eclectic, and includes blues, and ballads, sometimes dealing with the "Big Questions". His CD “Baghdad Highway” was released in 2005. Paul Brockett, the self-styled “Million Dollar Gentleman,” is a New London singer who performs a unique country-flavored show. John Russell's Big Easy Rhythm interprets classic jazz, blues and swing with, "an earthy excitement reminiscent of what could have been heard steaming from a turn of the Century Crescent City dance hall or a 1950's Greenwich Village jazz club...and much of what came in between!"
A note to the dedicated fans of Andy Bologovsky's show: Andy is taking one for the team to make this broadcast possible, but he will be back the first Sunday in April.
