On the next Live from Where?

Wednesday, March 15th, 8 p.m. Live from... Where?, WPKN radio's monthly live concert broadcast series presents Le Nozze di Carlo -- a New York-based quartet that performs ethnic and pseudo-ethnic music. Gene Caprioglio: guitar & voice Joel Darelius: bass & voice Paule Diamond: soprano saxophone & voice Bob Goldberg: accordion & voice Le Nozze first got together with a handful of folk tunes, to play at a friend's wedding. Since then, they have developed a repertoire that includes traditional and modern Italian folk and pop tunes, Irish and pseudo-Irish ballads, polkas, sea chanteys, jazz odysseys, mini-operas, and the occasional game of croquet. A typical set might include tunes by Paolo Conte, Edith Piaf, Bob Marley, The Rascals (another great Italian band!), or Nino Rota, as well as originals. The group recently released its first CD "Le Nozze di Carlo", which features many favorites from the band''s storied history, ranging from traditional Italian songs like "Bella Ciao" and "Funiculi Funicula", to modern classics such as "Volare", "Quando Quando Quando", and "La Vie En Rose" to the mini-opera "Vino" and the cinematic "Hunger Suite". Everyone is invited to attend. We ask for a goodwill donation in any amount, and no one will be turned away unless the house is full. We request that reservations be made in advance by calling WPKN during regular business hours at 203 331 9756. Only 30 seats are available for the show, so it is essential to make reservations early.
