From 10:00am – 5:00pm, come to the Yale Peabody Museum for A Celebration of North American Native Cultures. The day will feature crafts, games and storytelling with an 11 a.m. performance by Grammy-nominated North American flute player Joseph Fire Crow in this year's focus on North American Native peoples. From 10:30am to noon come to the community room of the New Haven Free Public Library, 133 Elm Street, across from the Green, for an Urban Garden Workshop. Rachel Ziesk, Certified Master Gardener, will discuss and give great tips for closing your garden and how to maximize your garden for the fall/winter and early spring. Q&A following discussion. 9 am J.F. presents: An interview with John Fitch,
noted race car driver whose career spanned 18 years and included such races as the 1951 Argentine Grand Prix, 1955 Mille Miglia, Dunrod Tourist Trophy, and Sebring endurance race as well as numerous lesser races. he also competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans six times, finishing as high as third. Fitch also served as the first manager for Chevrolet's Corvette racing team, and the first general manager of the Lime Rock Park race track. Fitch emulated his ancestor, John Fitch who invented the steamship, by inventing many safety innovations for the race track and the highway.
